Mahou Shoujo Tai Alice

7.75 (good) This was introduced to me as The Tweeny Witches. Nothing about Alice in there. Hah. Anyway, this was fun, if childishly so, with gleeful, whimsical animation. A girl obsessed with witches, gets her hands on a book left by her long-missing father; accidents occur and she ends up in another world - a world of steampunk, witches, warlocks and fantastical creatures. No one believes this human girl is worthy of becoming a witch but somehow she passes the first 'test' - riding a broom, albeit skateboard style and going on to race another young witch. Cue striking animation of soaring broomsticks through fantasy landscape! Unfortunately, the happiness doesn't last too long; others have been watching and they want the book! Said book somehow goes missing through some interesting circumstances and -gasp!- she loses her witchy powers! Following episodes go into how she has to regain her witchiness through manual hard work, hunting and collecting materials, going to lessons and all the while trying to look out for the book, make friends, and preach her principles of no violence and SMILE is GOOD. lolz It's good fun, and yet doesn't shove off the fact that there is more than meets the eye and a tangled weave of tragedy lies behind all and ahead.. Cliches and glitches can happen, but this series managed to carry the story off quite well nonetheless. If you find it, watch!

7.50 (good) Shounen-ai that you can read without realising it is - because those boys just can't be boys, really, in the first few chapters. o-o
However, this is one of Lily Hoshino's prettiest and safest works (barring the last two chapters), and I liked the fantasy touches. And oh fine, I liked it safe then. >3> The master-slave kinks in the other stuff she writes just isn't my thing hmm kay?
The art is so beautiful though....

Lily Hoshino + fairy-tales - heavy master-slave torture = GOOD. 'Nuff said.

7.25 (above average) I felt so trolled when I read the last few arcs of this manga. lol but it was hilarious, with a strangely realistic art style in a few arcs. Some arcs have a little depth and touching moments - all are trolled by the main pro/antagonist. It will mess with your mind but it'll be a fun trip ;)

Legend of the Sun Knight

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Jun 01, 2011

7.25 (above average) I am judging the novel, not the manhwa actually. Sorry ^^;. But the manhwa design isn't yet what I imagined when I read the translated novels though the humour and story flows through quite well. :) This is yet another shoujo with bishies with magic powers - But the novelist being the slight sadist, decided to add the Knight systems and royal corruption and necromancy. Sun Knight is apparently the most gentile and have the utmost sanctity, yet the strongest Knight of all; his morals must be profound! He must proclaim the graces of the Sun God in every line he speaks! He must be pure and heavenly unstained! ..Rrriigghhtt. The real Sun Knight would rather loudly curse at the system for the wretched, pretentious life he has to live- with no women! This is the system that has been carried on for ages not known, with their strict beliefs on the characters of the Knights i.e Sun=moral, Storm=flirt, Justice=cruel sadist etc. Add in the fact that Sun was chosen not for skill but for his blonde hair, to his horror, and also the fact that he's much much better at NOT being the Sun Knight, and you get .. Hilarity? lol But the story will run deeper with truths uncovering about the characters, the royal family, necromancy and so forth. Warning: Sadism and wacky humour plus bishies doing unbishie things D: XD

Golden Days

Last Updated: May 12, 2011

7.25 (above average) 1st to watch this? Okay.. Golden Days. Soma Mitsuya visits his ill grandfather at the hospital. He is yet again in a crisis with his overprotective mum who wants to shelter him all the time, berating him to never walk alone and such, even stopping him from playing the violin. All in fear.. of what? Frustration mounds; his grandfather's condition suddenly worsens; then an earthquake strikes and Mitsuya somehow finds himself transported to 1921!
...Okay, this isn't easy to describe. But trust me, the story's got atmosphere and the people that Mitsuya will meet in 1921 will grow on both him and you. Storyline actually exists too! :o lol
---
EDIT: Tip: Read this as far as you can. Then go to the beginning, and read the 1st chapter again. It's somewhat... revealing. :o And you pick up little details, at least I do. I love Mitsuya more than ever. ;_; Made to be in pathetic situations yet utterly UNpathetic.

Gakuen Babysitters

Seen: partially

Last Updated: May 08, 2011

7.25 (above average) omg Gakuen Babysitters is sooo cute. The adorableness.. urgh... My brain cells XD. But it's so cute that I can't stay away. And sweet, and funny. It's not very deep, and there's way too much 'lucky coincidence' but the toddlers and their babysitters interact so adorably. Brotherly love, brotherly jealousy, children's tempers, going through the pain and strangeness of losing parents, the gruff older brother who secretly cares for his little bro... Sure, it's not deep. And after the first few chapters, it decides that the teenagers don't need that much focus after all, and it's starting to be all about the kids and their day care life... But it's so addictive and sugary. Argh.
An instant cure for depression, some of the chapters. Certainly a helpful read after the horrors of watching Amnesia gameplay D:
